My First Nokia

My first Nokia phone was the 6610i model which was released roughly around the year 2003 because I remebered buying the phone only after it has been in the market for quite a certain time, which is in 2004(gave up my 2 months earnings working as part time promoter to the dealer =p ).

This model which I bought was actually the improved version of the 6610 model which has exactly the same look and almost the same features as the former model. The only thing that outlines the difference is the 'eye' or the integrated camera that comes in the update version of the phone. The integrated camera is capable of shooting images at a maximum resolution of 352 x 288 pixels, which makes it strictly for very casual users. For a resolution that small, the quality is surprisingly good. There are other mobile phones with VGA camera at that time but this one captures the best because I've seen my friend's one and I still prefere mine regardless =p. Besides the camera, the phone also has a xHTML browser that allows me to browse the internet through my phone. But it has limitation because you can't view contents that are too large. The phone also comes with an FM radio and you can listen to the radio on the moves but with a headset plug in because the headset functions as the antenna. You can turn the radio out loud too with the loudspeaker function!

See the integrated camera embedded at the back of the phone?

And this model also came in 3 original colours.

I had mine in blue =)

Nokia...Connecting People

Hello everyone! Seen the introduction video above? I definitely believe that most of us are very familiar with this Nokia theme song and the hand shaking clip. You bet, as you move along this blog you are going to see lots of posts about Nokia phones. There will be posts on Nokia new release phones as well as the older models, Nokia related products and also stories about my own encounter & experience with Nokia mobiles.

This blog is also specially created to fulfill my individual project of Marketing Information Technology subject that I'm taking in this semester of my studies. Apparently,I am a Year 2 marketing undergraduate. Will not be elaborating a lot about myself here because you can always check more about me from the profile section at the side of this page. Well, that's the purpose of the section anyway :)

I have picked Nokia to be the topic of my blog as I've been a long time user of this brand and it is one of my favourite. Other reason is because I find the topic favourably related with the subject- I N F O R M A T I O N T E C H N O L O G Y. Since it's all about technology, I will tell about technological products then.

So viewers, if you haven't already know much about Nokia and its products, here's the place to enhance your information or ideas about Nokia. For intoduction stage, I will provide a little brief about Nokia and it's history. I promise to make it as brief as possible so we don't get weary reading a parade of facts!

Okay, here are the 9 facts that I've carefully chosen:

1. Nokia did not start off as a telecommunication company in the beginning. (Yes, you might not believe this...)

2. Nokia was a paper mill company! Yes, making paper! (Interesting isn't it?)

3.It was back in 1865 when Mr. Fredrik Idestam built a wood pulp mill on the banks of the Tammerkoski rapids, in southern Finland and a few years later, he built a second mill by the Nokianvirta river – the place that gave Nokia its name.

4. Want to know more Mr. Fredrik Idestam? Go to this site here - - - -> http://www.nokia.com/about-nokia/company/story-of-nokia/nokias-first-century/the-birth-of-nokia

5. Nokia then move to telecommunication business in 1968 and continues to develop.

6.In 1987, Nokia launches the Mobira Cityman, the first handheld NMT phone.

7.In 1992,Nokia launches its first GSM handset, the Nokia 1011.

8.Nokia becomes the world leader in mobile phones in 1998.

9.In the 21st century, Nokia’s story continues with 3G, mobile multiplayer gaming, multimedia devices and a look to the future...

Before I end this first post, let me share with you a quote that I picked from Nokia official site:

" Our promise is to help people feel close to what is important to them..." - Nokia's vision
